Memories

The image shows an old-fashioned camera resting on a faded map. There are three photos in sepia print next to the camera

there is something

about a portrait in sepia

the delicate hue and the softly faded smile

not standardized or digitized or posted somewhere in the cloud

save it – print it – don’t lose it – you’ll regret it

and always keep your memories

stored safely in

your heart

  1. So true! And what I find is that most of the photos I have like that contain memories that aren’t even mine, meaning the only thing I know about them is what I’ve been told by elder members of the family. But I’m also fascinated with old photos of people I’m not even related to, like those you’d find in an antique store.

  2. Beautiful sentiment put across, Chris. I’m reminded of the huge ‘proper’ photograph albums that my parents added to over the years. They seem so much more tangible than having thousands of pictures of my own kids on my phone, although admittedly less practical!

    • 🙂 definitely so! I’m glancing up at the framed old sepia portrait of my mother-in-law as a little girl, which hangs on the wall by where I’m sitting today (because it’s also by the heater).

      • Oh, very sweet. I’ve a sepia portrait of family members I’ve never known, kin of my grandfather, apparently. My mother likes to point out that the one slightly slouched with a smirk is a lot like me. I tend to agree. 🙂
