emerging at last
from an underground cocoon
pale sun still shrouded
yet emerald shoots glisten
birds are calling to the dawn
post-apocalypse
nature is undefeated
what will man do now?

The world needs to do more, that’s for sure, even if Cape Town (and other southern coastal cities) isn’t about to be engulfed by a tsunami caused by a rift in the Antarctic ice sheet.

Although I am a naturally positive person, Chris, my view is that mankind would merely get up and start grabbing for themselves and destroying everything all over again. That is the cycle of human history.

My favorite line is “birds are calling to the dawn”. It reminds me of the small town where I grew up, because you could really hear the birds doing that. Not quite the same in the “big city”. 🤔
