our night-time terrors
evaporate with the dew
dispersed by the sun’s first pink rays
greet the day
with sweet voices raised
welcome in the dawn
each new day
let’s summon the sun
with a song

Wonderful shift from the dark first line to a complete turnaround later on. Perfect poem for a Monday!

I think that you are totally right here, Chris, you’ve got to start positive (even if you’re not feeling it or things around you crumble!). Never lose that ability to see things through the eyes of a child.

Thanks, Chris! To recapture that optimistic innocence is always worth a try.

I think this would be a good stance for adults as well. In the end, waking up to a new day is something to sing about–even if we have to be reminded from time to time.

Everything usually looks better in the morning, we just need to carry that optimism with us.

As I read this, Chris, I was back in assembly at school, singing ‘Morning Has Broken ‘! Not that I had night terrors, I hasten to add! 😀

Pleased to hear that about the night-horses, Tom! ‘Morning Has Broken’ was popular in our primary school, too.
