  1. Recovery after a stroke is slow, but for a strong and determined woman like you, it won’t be long before you will be writing fluently. I salute your dedication and determination. Bravo my friend. Lots of love and hugs

  2. May I add a couple more things to what I have already told you, Chris ( based on my background):
No matter how long the road ahead of you is, mind yourself not with its length; day by day is how you win this fight.
And, please, do not allow yourself or anyone ( yes, I mean health care professionals too) to Identify you with the situation you are in.
You are not an aphasic person.
You are Chris Hall, who happens to deal with a situation at this time.
    Huge difference.

Sending you and Cliff my love and best wishes.

    • That’s a good point, Nick. For me, it’s not the situation, it’s getting passed. I think it’s because I needed to know what aphasia meant and how I could get there. I hope I make sense!
Thank you so much. And of course, you and Cliff are both artists as well!

  3. I am so sorry I had missed this chapter of your life. I thank you for leaving a little something on my blog on occasion. Very interesting the exercises you do that will lead to your recovery. So the Luna that is part of your blog is actually the name of your cat? What a great companion!

  4. Keep it going Chris. Sometimes less is more, and the slow way is the best way. In my new job for the NHS I’m working in physio/occupational health/speech language. In just a few short weeks I am amazed at the recovery process I have seen with people, and the way the body can be ‘tuned’ – much like a musical instrument. I am in awe of what the human mind and body can achieve when put under such life-changing injuries!

    • It is such an important job, although I really didn’t know what they did before my stroke. Physio and cognitive coordination came back pretty quickly. What fun it was! But the speech therapy is still quite difficult, although I have come from nothing to here, and more! I had a year with the wonderful two speech therapies but I don’t need them anymore. Although I’d love to see them all. Now I just need practice, practice, practice!

  5. This is a wonderful post Chris. You are doing brilliantly, and can embrace how far you have come. The exercises you set for yourself are terrific, practical and achievable. I am so pleased the 3TC is helping too. Take care, and hugs to you both ❤

  6. I’m so glad to see this post, Chris! You are facing a much greater challenge than I am, and I admire you so much for your determination! You are an inspiration to everyone who knows you, all the way to your blogging friends across the world! God bless! 🥰🐱🐼

  7. To compare notes is a silly endeavor; simply trust that I know a little about working my way back up the mountain. No matter the cause, the journey isn’t easy. When your goal, your destination becomes visible, that’s when you know all your hard work has paid off. Keep on keeping on, Chris; you are an inspiration! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. 💫

  8. Good to ‘read’ you again.

Reading your progress ( in these progress posts) is an example of the best of the virtual world. To see your extraordinary efforts and witness the progress ot is yielding. Very much a privilege.
Not so much the specific physical condition as the power of will (and spirit) in the face of such adversity. Inspiring.

    • Thank you so much, Robbie. I’m so pleased that you really enjoyed by story. Maybe I will be able to write my third one in a couple of years. Meanwhile, I hope that I can read again quite soon. I look forward to reading some of your books, especially your poetry.

  9. You are doing so well. You will get there in your own time. We went to see Iron Maiden a few weeks back. The drummer didn’t go public until after the tour, but he had a stroke months before and was partially paralysed. When we say him, he was amazing. Sending you so many hugs ❤️

  10. Continued recovery. Each day is a new beginning and you are a star getting brighter and stronger!

Our autumn is just beginning, shorter days, cooler weather and even the winter holidays are already on display. It is this time that I look forward to January 5th… I’m not a big holiday person. Each day is a day to love and learn. I don’t need advertising to tell me what to celebrate. ….

I enjoy Scrabble too. But when my hubby and I play we have one goal – make it difficult for the next player to place a word, cover the board, and use all the tiles. We don’t keep score.

    • Thank you, Jules!
Of course, we are in the spring here in South Africa and it’s getting warmer and lighter, although it is very wet at the moment. Well done for Scrabble, but it is very important for me to learn my numbers again!

      • When I was younger numbers weren’t my friend. But I’ve gotten much better. 😉

We’ve had some wet days from the storm Ophelia that was in the Atlantic ocean.

Stay safe and enjoy your Scrabble games 💕

  11. Lovely to see you writing again, Chris, you’ve been a big miss in the creative community.
And thank you for following Sound Bite Fiction, and for keeping an eye on the Unicorn Challenge.
Looking forward to the time you decide you can contribute there, real talent is always welcome.

  12. I thought of perhaps another fun way to practice numbers… save your canceled postage stamps. Cut them off the envelopes and put them in a jar. Pick out 3 or 4 to add together.
Then maybe you’ll also enjoy some of the artwork?

  13. I don’t know how I missed this post, Chris. Another couple of weeks have passed since you wrote it, so hopefully you are now further along your journey. I really appreciate your visits to my blog, thank you most sincerely.

  14. Sorry, Chris, I’m a little late (actually, very late!) In commenting. You’re coming along really well, by the looks of things. You have the drive to move forward and bring things back to how they were, so you’re going to get there. Don’t worry about the frustrations, they’re just another step forward! The important thing is to keep on keeping on, and you’re doing that anyway!
I look forward to reading your next post soon! 🙂 Hopefully I’ll comment on that one within a better time frame!
