The red-head woman climbed up the rickety stairs to the top level of her tiny flat, as she lugged her big bag which contained all those interesting things, which she had brought from that antique safe in that old almost empty building.
Earlier she still could hardly believe what had happened just by the spooky cemetery around the corner; one of the graves had exploded, as a chasm appeared, for several minutes it was chaos, but then the chasm had closed and the large grave looked just the same as before.
She had been about to go back down from the roof, when she saw the two gargoyles flying away; she felt rather sad to see them go and she wondered if she would see them again, but then she heard one of them shout back to her – see you later!
She shook her head for a moment, but now she was busy again; she had removed everything from her bag and spread them around her bed; there was an old beautiful book, various important documents and nestling in the little box – a ring – she quickly put on her finger, it was set in a lovely ruby, maybe an engagement ring, she’d thought?
She looked at the deeds that were very difficult to read, she scrolled down – French was not her first language – but she could tell that this was something about the old building where the gargoyles stay.
Now there is a thought – do gargoyles read?

So intriguing! I hope we find out if they can read. (I’ll be heading back to read more of the red-headed woman’s tale 💖)

Reading is such an important thing even gargoyles!
I do hope that you enjoy a bit more of my silly story😆

I would say that if gargoyles can talk, they most certainly can read.

A friendly gargoyle or two would certainly make life very interesting! I hope they ARE friendly!!

Well, it seems like the gargoyles need something, and that the red-head woman can offer something in return (maybe).🤔

VERY intriguing, Chris!
If gargoyles don’t read, I hope they at least watch quality television. 🙂

Mmm, I wonder what they watch? Maybe tennis at the moment, since the French Open is on now, and it’s only round the corner in Paris!

Ha, Chris! 😂 If the gargoyles can swivel their heads from one side of a tennis court to another to follow the matches… 🙂

The “see you later” made it clear that the gargoyles knew she was there. I am glad the chasm shut itself up. That would have been a mess to clean. I get an ominous feeling about hearing that she put the ring on her finger.

Mmm, I think you are right. It’s getting a bit complicated, but at least there was no mess in the cemetery!

No, no, no! That’s too scary about the LOTR😬, although the ruby-red stone might be a problem anyway…

I would not be surprised at all of those two did. Write or at least read, that is.

Maybe the ruby ring will be like Dorothy’s ruby slippers, “There’s no place like home…” 🤔👠👠

My kind of Six!
(interesting settings, usually-forbidden beings offering a positive relationship and a welcome for new adventures)
In grad school I lived in a 3rd floor tenement apartment. One advantage to the old-fashioned semi-curved staircase, as long as I leaned on the left-hand wall, I always made it home)

Glad you enjoyed that, Clark!
And yes, I also lived in my first year in the Varsity place in an old and tall building on the 3rd floor. I remember there was 62 stairs, coming down was much easier than going up – even then!

In the cartoon I watched (long ago) the Gargoyles could read and were very smart, after all they were night time super heroes 🙂

Nice, Chris. Gargoyles are usually quite old so I see no reason why they would not have learned to read.
