ahh cherry blossoms
beautiful and lingering
known as sakura
flowers are dainty
while trees are magnificent
both together is hope
but meanwhile something else is happening:
cherries are blushing
bountiful and delicious
how many can we eat?
these are so sweet
more than delightful!

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a lot of cherry trees in blossom. There is a body of water in front of the trees that is reflecting the image, upside down.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #280 photo prompt.

I remember the cherry blossom trees in Japan. They were always a beautiful sight.

I used to live in Virginia across the river from the US capital where the cherry blossoms bloom. Beautiful!

Such a nice photo, Sadje, so of course I would think about cherries! And yes, I’m craving too. Pity though since it’s a long time to get them – it will be Nov/Dec for us!

So pretty, both the photo and the poem! There aren’t that many cherry trees around here, but there are lots of orange trees, and the orange blossoms smell divine when they are in bloom!

Oh yes, oranges… really nice! I have both oranges and lemons in my garden. Almost ready… just one little orange though (hoping).🍊🍋😉

Beautiful verses, so beautiful as the cherry blossom.💖🤗
PS: it is still too chilly here in Germany to see them blooming!😨🤪

Glad that you enjoyed that, Aladin.🌸 I am thinking that you still need a couple of months until it’s properly warm where you stay.😉💛😊

Indeed, dear Chris. The warmth comes slowly here, yet the cherry blossoms will surely bloom next month.😁😘

The early Sakura blossoms are contesting with other blooms here already; the real parade of Sakura is weeks away. And when that happens—oh my gosh—what an explosion. A site to behold. Thanks for this lovely post, Chris. Blessing you. Hugs

Our verys first home had a black cherry tree… that was so big and old that only the birds could get at the fruit. We learned later that since the tree took up most of the little yard that the new owner had it taken down… *sigh*

Oh dear, what a shame – but what could you do?

Who knows how old it was? But I looked it up and that tree could have lived to about 250 years…. but I think where it was planted wasn’t ideal either. Certainly not enough space in a postage stamp size back yard.
