she just arrived
on this beautiful bay
azure on the water
creamy white sands
and up in the sky
little billowing clouds
she began to walk
slowly but surely
it will take all day
and then the sun will go down
she’ll lay her eggs
then later she’ll return
back into the ocean
and looking up to the moon

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a sea turtle emerging from the sea and traveling on the sand. Behind it, you can blue sea and a sky dotted with small white clouds.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #291 photo prompt.

The further away from men, the better.

The urge to survive, and when the eggs hatch, …it’s a race to the water, …lovely words and such a gorgeous photo. Chris,…💫

Thanks so much, Penny. I do hope the little turtles manage to get away.

Me too, … I remember seeing a documentary where some children were helping the little newly hatched ones to the water, chasing off the birds that would attack them. Birds nil, turtles countless, …yaaay!

I used to live near a beach in Florida that was a favorite for the sea turtles- watching the babies make their way to the sea is something I will never forget. Loved this.

Well, I have that album – must dig it out! Nice to listen even though the rain is lashing around the Cape at the moment.

She may appear lazy but laying eggs is a lot of work. Glad she made it happen.

Aw, this is a sweet one. It reminds me of the turtle who laid eggs by our car when we were visiting the North Woods one weekend. Unfortunately, a different critter found those eggs and had a big dinner. 😦
