Yes, I am a sheep
and only for Christmas time
and a bit longer.
Yes, I’m on a tree,
not a real one, obviously,
there’s tinsel and lights.
And are we happy?
Hard to say, since we don’t speak,
and we never have.
So we continue
to spin slowly for Christmas
and New Year as well.
Then back in that box
and for everyone, until
next time, see you then.

This image shows a close up of a Christmas tree, with two little woolly lambs hanging from it. One is white and the other is grey.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #320 photo prompt.

Aww, love your poem Chris and the imagery you have created of spinning slowly on the tree. Thank you so much for joining in.

Thanks so much, Sadje. That photo was excellent since we have a little stuffed lamb just like that on our Christmas tree. We will put it up tomorrow!

Great, poignant poem, Chris. Loved the way you gave life to that ornament.

That ornament is almost real. That sheep is from New Zealand – such a long way to come here!! Thanks, Dave 😊

Back in the box, but hoping for the Holidays to return again. Cheers Chris.

That important box lives in the dining room. It’s very useful in many ways, like crackers for example – dreadful jokes and silly paper hats!

A lovely word, not so lovely when Lambikin gets eaten by a jackal.
