Here we are, Friday evening at our Book Launch Party!
Wonderful local wine and people enjoying the atmosphere.
A few of the pics from the Q and A session after Paul and I had told everyone about our books, with local authors Natasha Anders and Rae Rivers, and cover designers and illustrators Cliff Davies and Theresa Wilds.
The photos were taken by my good friend and photographer, Laurette van der Merwe. Find her here Laurette’s Photography and here Laurette’s Fine Art Photography and Artwork. Our launch was held at Chelsea Cafe who’d stoked up the fire and made us delicious soup to keep us going over the evening.
Paul and I both sold. We didn’t sell out, but we did do well. Our book links are here.
A good night all round, and nicely capped off the following evening by Liverpool Football Club’s victory in the European Cup. I’m sure Bob and Gary would’ve been in the crowd.
They’re singing our song again!
So glad it went well! 🙂 Sounds like you had a great time & how did you find pitching the book to different people?

It all went very smoothly. 🙂 We did know quite a large proportion of the audience, and I think in any case, people that come to a private launch are supportive and interested anyway. It would be more of a challenge to a roomful of strangers, or people pitching up to a signing in a bookstore (should that ever happen).

Yeah, I’d be terrified trying to make my story plot interesting for first-time strangers – getting that 2-min elevator pitch right is a great skill!

We had a cunning plan for this. We both read out other people’s reviews of our books. Fortunately we had some good ones! It also saved me from that weird thing about talking up my own work. 😉

Always a sound game plan 😉

I have just finished reading your new book Chris. I found it to be a real page turner with lots of intrigue and it kept me guessing until the end. Well done.

It was fun and everyone agreed there was such a nice atmosphere. Plus my friend Laurette took so many good photos, which will be all over the place now!
