#ARMEDWITABINGO is a light-hearted reading challenge from Kriti Khare & Ariel Joy which I signed up for at the start of this year. Reading is good for writers and I read a lot anyway, so why not? I also set myself a target to read 36 books this year for the 2020 Goodreads Reading Challenge.
I’ve enjoyed them all for different reasons, although I have to say that Moby Dick was pretty hard going! If you’re interested you can read all of my short and snappy reviews here on Goodreads.
And now… back to the writing! I’m busy with my fourth novel and with the South African lockdown starting at midnight tomorrow for 21 days, I really have no excuse. Of course, I’ll still be keeping up with my little stories and occasional poems on here.
Take care and stay safe wherever you are in the world. At least we can still meet here.
Many thanks again for reading my novel! Happy reading and writing, and stay safe!

Wow that is a really fun idea! I have to say I attempted to read Moby Dick when I was in the fifth grade, because I wanted to read a really long book. When my teacher realized that, he said if I finished it, he would give me an automatic A in reading. Needless to say I never did finish. (I think I still got an A though LOL). Just a couple of months ago I did listen to it on Audiobooks while working on mosaics… I was surprised at the amount of humor there was in it, apparently lost on me back in fifth grade😀

You must have done your entire shower area to that then… appropriate listening, but where’s the white whale?!!

Lol there is one, but he’s really small, on the first part that I did. Oh wait, he’s gray…But yes, there were enough hours in that audiobook to have done quite a bit on mosaic😋

I’m sure a gray whale was mentioned. In fact, there was a whole chapter devoted to listing every known type of whale. I’ll let you into a secret, I did kinda skip some of that. 😉

Yes and I kind of “tuned out” to that part myself😬

Goodness gracious, what a reading record! Here I am with a couple MG graphic novels, still unread, and I feel like a right goof for not getting more reading in at the moment. Hopefully once I settle things down with these kiddos I’ll finally have a bit more sanity in hand. 🙂 xxxxxxx Keep up the lovely work on your novel! xxxxx

I’ve always read stories to escape… but then I don’t have kids around. You can hardly count two hungry hens and a rather vocal and demanding cat. Keep well… all of you. 🙂

Hee hee! How on earth do the cat and hens get along? I keep picturing a Sylvester/Tweety situation. 🙂

More the other way around. Luna is a quite a small cat and the hens are huge!

Goodness! Does Luna egg’em on? (hee hee, hen humor!)

Oh my Moby Dick was indeed hard work, it was way easier to watch the film! I remember reading MD as a teenager … once was enough.
36 is a good target for books Chris, l have read perhaps 10 books this year so far across a broad spectrum, slowed down a bit recently and switched genre into more factual how to’s – good luck with the 21Day lockdown 🙂

I’ve never read much in the way of non-fiction. The only how-to’s I have are cookery books. Day One of the lockdown. It’s very quiet. Stay safe!

Hey Chris, Day 5 for us … only Day 1 is that for your part of Africa … Suze was saying one of her friends has a sister and they are now on lockdown day 5 like us?
Stay safe, stay sane, stay healthy 🙂

We’re in South Africa. The schools were closed and some people began self-isolating almost 2 weeks ago, but the official lockdown started at midnight last night. It’s strict. Nobody is to leave home apart from for basic grocery shopping and meds; not even to walk their dogs. Virtually all businesses are closed. No deliveries are permitted. It’s going to be very tough for the self-employed and small businesses if it lasts more than 21 days as there’s no support package here.
Interesting times.
To you and yours, keep well, Rory 🙂

Dang!! That’s going to be hard, especially for dog walkers and their charges too. Recently l reead an article here about drones being sent to spy on UK dog walkers … https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/03/26/fed-up-police-take-extreme-measures-ensure-public-follow-lockdown/
