Shall I? Shan’t I? This is what I’ve been asking myself over the past few weeks. I think I vowed not to do this again at the end of last November. I’d made hard work of it, although I didn’t need to; not that I signed up for the ‘real deal’, just a modest target of 30,000 words. However, in the end, I did get half a novel almost completed within the month.
So it was worth it!
That novel is now complete. Song of the Sea Goddess is due for release early next year and, in the meantime, I shall be offering advance reader copies to any of you who’d like to read it and review it. More about this soon.
So, NaNo again?
You bet! But on my own informal personal terms like last year and the year before:
– Target 30,000 words.
– Write at least 5 chapters each week.
– Enjoy it!
That won’t be a whole novel. It will be a good start.

Good luck to all NaNoWriMo participants!
Especially those who have committed to doing it properly.
Wishing you all the best my friend. Thanks for continuing with WDYS.

I wrote my first book with NaNo, and have been considering trying again for this year has been a total waste of writing time for me. Never knew you could do a restricted one!

I’m only doing this informally. I haven’t signed up for anything, these are just goals for myself. It’s worked two years running, so why not a third? I suppose it’s a way of giving myself permission to dedicate more time to my writing, just for a month.

That has to be a good idea!

Good luck with NaNoWriMo, Chris! (It’s definitely not for me, too much pressure.)

Thanks, Liz! You’ll note I’ve modified the goal posts a little to keep the pressure off 🙂

Yes, I did notice. A wise strategy!

I am tempted to join but feel I might be setting myself up for a disappointment. Good luck this month! Will you be sharing what you are writing with us?

Thanks for the good wishes, Irma. I set a lower bar for myself knowing that I couldn’t meet the real target. I won’t be sharing this time because I’m writing the sequel to the novel I’m about to release. The advance readers copies of that will be coming out in the next week or so.

Good luck with NaNoWriMo! Me and my sisters usd to participate when we were younger. It’s unfortunate that I’m too busy this year with my studies to join in but I’m hoping to do the equivalent to this in January which is when I have my holiday.

Wow you’re more motivated than I am, Chris! You notice I didn’t even attempt “Inktober” this year😬

I didn’t see anyone doing Inktober this year, and i hang out with a lot of artists. So far so good with the ‘novel with no name’ as Day 4 commences…

I love your plan! I think I’ll attempt something similar next year. It’s just too nutty this month for me to give it a go, but I do have a couple goals with Princeborn Book 3 and my NaNo project from last year that I want to tend to. If I can tackle those goals and stay on top of the whole teach/mom thing, then I KNOW I can do NaNo next year! xxxxxx

It’s important to know one’s limitations. You’ll make the time when you can, but not the month you start a new job! 🙂
