far from the cares
of everyday life
away from the sorrows
away from the strife
sitting together
on a distant shore
watching the tide
washing in
washing out
as the sun descends
and the stars appear
breathing in
breathing out
being mindful
just being

A quadrille, written in response to Sadje‘s What do You See #92 photo prompt.
The image shows two lego mini-figures sitting on pavement. Batman has an ice cone and Superman has an ice lolly!
this made me smile…. superheroes’ on break

Such a good message of taking breaks to be mindful. I feel that sometimes life can be packed with “to do” lists that it’s really important to take breaks like this. And that’s a fun photo to pair with your poem 🙂

Thanks, Dave! I agree, taking time out is so important. The photo came first, since it’s the writing prompt for the piece… but even superheroes need to take a break!!

Yes! And I’ve got a few short pieces brewing, so I’m hoping my time between terms next month gives me a chance to polish those up and maybe, FINALLY, get Middler’s Pride back in the game. Hopefully I’m not over-reaching with all that, but I’d rather reach than walk away. 🙂 How’s your own WIP coming along?

Sounds good for you to ‘get going’ again. My WIP is going pretty well thanks – almost finished the first draft, then there’s going to be a whole lot of ‘knocking into shape’. Fun times, I think!!

I guess even the super heroes need to take a break… ice cream on the beach with a peer is better than eating ice cream alone in your cave or fortress of solitude. Sometime you just need a friend who understands the stress of the job!

The last super hero movie I watch was the last Wonder Woman one. Makes one think about what super heroes do to relax 😉

I saw a cute comic the other day; nursing home for Super heroes. Superman with a walker was talking to Wonder Woman who was seated (but you couldn’t see on what). Superman says; “New (electric) Scooter?” To which Wonder Woman replied – my children made me give up my (invisible) airplane.”

[…] it might be nice for us all to hop on the tour bus and take a little virtual safari together to recharge our batteries. Also, my right shoulder is in particular need of a little rest from too much typing, […]

When I think of super heroes I think of nurses. They’ve worked so hard during this pandemic.
