My response to Sadje’s What do you see?picture prompt on Monday, suggested to me that it might be nice for us all to hop on the tour bus and take a little virtual safari together to recharge our batteries. Also, my right shoulder is in particular need of a little rest from too much typing, so let’s just feast our eyes and listen to the sounds of nature….
Now you see me… Giraffes can disappear into the bush in a wink of an eye – this one was just outside Moremi Wildlife Park in Botswana – not all game is inside the Park!Addo Elephant Park, Eastern Cape, South Africa – yes, he was that close!A rather splendid stork from a boat trip on the edge of the Okavango Delta, BotswanaVervet Monkey ‘traffic warden’ outside our accommodation at the Island Safari Lodge, Maun, Botswana – is this why little monkey characters, Fingers and Toti appear in my novels?Monitor lizard snapped on the way back from breakfast on the banks of the Thamalakane River in Maun, BotwanaHippos on the Zambezi
So cool! I liked being able to listen to the sounds while reading through the post. It made it seem like I was there! The elephant is so pretty! I’ve always wanted an elephant as a pet. lol
Thanks, Michelle! I love the sound of the bush – I’m playing it again now. There are pygmy elephants in Borneo – only 8 feet tall – how about one of them?? 😉
Fabulous. Love the elephant. The monkey on the bonnet reminds me of the baboons at Longleat Safari park that stripped all the ball bearings out of the windscreen wipers!
The ele was a little too close for comfort! Baboons are a terrible menace in some places here – similar behaviour to those in UK safari parks, trashing and robbing from cars! I remember being behind a car in Knowsley Safari Park, watching the baboon troop strip the vinyl roof from a car. That tells you how long ago that was!!
How fun! It had never dawned on me that giraffes could hide behind trees like that, although it makes perfect sense. So those were all pictures you took? 🐘🦒
Lovely pictures, Chris. Toti is a splendid little character.

It’s amazing how those huge animals just melt into the bush. Elephants can do the same! The photos are Cliff’s, he’s the photographer in the family.

Nature is so calming (well, mostly)! Some you don’t want to get too close too.

African wildlife does tend to be noisy, even here in the suburbs of Cape Town. I sometimes wish our squirrels and guinea fowl had a volume control. 🙂

We have a lone whippoorwill who gets really loud and obnoxious at night. I don’t know what his deal is. 🙂

Perhaps he’s lonely 😦

Whomever he’s calling out to seems to want no part of him.
