Insides flaming
throat burning
lungs pounding
clinging on.
Guts heaving
mouth screaming
chest thumping
hanging on.
Dawn’s breaking
heads shaking
surprised she survived
the endless night.
Fingers clawing
rasping, gasping
body stiffens…
her dragon roars
no more.

The image shows shows a huge stone dragon on top of a building.
Fantastic take Chris! The clever message is great too. She overcame her dragon, the dreaded virus, covid. Thanks for joining in my friend

This was intense! That dragon is a perfect metaphor for Covid.

Thanks, Liz! That dragon took me a little by surprise, which is apt too, I guess.

Thank you! I can’t claim the credit for the image though – that was the weekly WDYS photo prompt from Sadje (the link is at the bottom of the post).

I wasn’t sure how the letters would show up on various devices, but it seems to have worked. 🙂

Yes they were in bold type on mine. 😊

That’s interesting, it should have come out in bold and red coloured. I’ll have to remember that for the future.

I like the hidden letters… how unfortunate though that ‘this’ disease has taken so many. And yet many do survive. The new variant is reducing interactions – again.

Thanks, Jules. We’ve never really left lockdown to one degree of another. The state of disaster has been ongoing for 500 days this week.

Some say it may have started in Dec of 2019 – which would make it closer to 750 days…
Yes, I agree precautions have been on going for a long time and will continue.

From what I’ve witnessed recently too, although not for everyone. Many people’s symptoms have been mild.
