growing in between the paving stones.
Remember what it was like
to be full of wonder?
When every day brought
a fresh new adventure?
To view the world
curious and unafraid
without prejudices
or preconceptions
open to possibilities
alive with expectations,
just starting out
on life’s path?

I so want to return to that space of innocence Chris. We seem to have lost it, in our journey of growing up. Excellent take on the prompt 👍🏻

A beautiful poem Chris. That’s the price we pay for growing up, losing our innocence and sense of wonder. Thanks for joining in my friend

What a pleasure. Thanks for that pretty prompt, Sadje! Maybe we can get a little of that feeling back, if only in our imaginations.

Very true! Older isn’t necessarily wiser if you lose that spirit of adventure.

I do too… distantly. I often wonder why as I get older, I become more cautious. In many situations, surely if nothing has gone seriously wrong so far, why should I fear that it will, now? (Apart from spending most of my working life in risk management). 😉

I think we are all getting suspicious, not really any wonder, if you think about it…

Those were halcyon days. Now, I know why my parents kept telling me not to grow up too fast.

Aww! 🥰This has to be the best take on that prompt! If it were a contest I would vote for you! Kittens are so cute, and they do have such a sense of innocence and wonder about them (except when they’re climbing up the living room curtains LOL). Great poem, Chris!

It is hard to fathom how early innocence is lost. I have family planning a trip in March. One of the youngsters (who I believe has never flown before) has stated partly because of the pandemic (news) is afraid to fly… I think they’ll be able to go though. They need some ‘alone’ family time.

It’s sad how so many kids have been so badly effected by the pandemic. They have lost so much that we took for granted. I hope the trip works out.
