This is how it starting. Back from the void… ‘Coming Back’
And now, what can I see?
At the very start, it sees that the brain doesn’t recognise in my head properly at all.
Only listening.
Another few weeks. A little talking.
I look at my right hand. I need to write.
I move the pencil and the hand, and I look at my eyes..
This is how it works. (Sort of).
“Your eyes work, but the letters on the page have turned into squiggles. They make no sense. Now meet Howard Engel, a writer of detective stories, who has this condition, but amazingly, has found a way to trick his brain to almost read again.”
Something else
Much later, I find another writer. He had a ‘problem’ similarly to mine.
And I know he’s back, Dylan!
Take a look.
So where am I now?
I am not quite right yet. My legs and arms and everything are good, although walking around is still a little odd. There is a little bit in my sight and I can’t see well on the right, but it is getting smaller.
My writing is getting so much better. Reading is still a bit difficult and talking is the same. Sometimes it is perfect but other times it disappears. Oh well.
Yes, I am ever so slow.
But I’m coming.
You’ll do it my dear friend. My prayers and best wishes are with you. Slow and steady progress with every day. Hugs.

I believe that it is what we (if I am allowed to belong to) do: as an intuitive person, to create something as an artist. There is much to know about our intuitions to learn how to forget the body and strengthen the soul. You will get it, I am sure. My whole a lot of love to you. 🤗💖

My friend,
Every time you are setting out to perform a task or a function, you are initiating a healing process of the brain.
Granted itis not healing in the traditional sense but more like a rewiring.
Yes, it is frustrating beyond words having to struggle for things that were executed almost instantly.
But each time you try, you are coming closer to rehabilitation.
Neuroplasticity maybe new to some but, trust me, it has been used for quite some time.
And I have seen the results for 30 years time and again.
Don’t loose heart.
Keep the lid of your shimmering pot open… pour everything inside… and trust.
With love, a ” brick”.

You are so eloquent, always, Nick. What you have said is completely true. Especially about the rewired in the brain. And of course, I am so frustrating, you’re know. Thank you so much. I must read back again something you sent me ages ago. It will help again.💛

So glad you are ‘coming back’ Chris. It all takes time and everyone is different in their recovery from whatever has hit them. Take each day and if it’s a good one, wonderful. If not so good, rest, and try again tomorrow. The good thing is you’ve started. Thoughts are with you ❤

…which is excellent news. I think that there are two ways to approach life and its complications: Wallow and demand sympathy ‘poor me’, or learn acceptance and determine to push through to achieve what you want to do. Of course love and support are important, and it’s clear that you have an abundance of these, and I’m sure that your road will lead you where you want to go.

I’m so pleased always to see your comments and I always send you good wishes through the ether.
Those are two very interesting posts you’ve included in your blog post.
I had no idea that reading and writing used different parts of the brian.
What a mysterious organ it is.
Delighted that you’re finding encouragement from folk who’ve travelled the road before you.
And thanks for sharing where you’re at.
All goos wishes and a big hug. xx

I’m pretty sure that everything will come back again. I know that now. But I am so slow and it takes a lot of time. What a pity that I have so many words to remember again!
By the way, the thing about the reading and writing, that made me laugh. ‘Brian’ – so funny!

You’ve already made such great progress. It’s okay if things come to you slowly. Slow and steady wins the race! Having to re-learn multiple motor functions is no easy feat. It took me years to fully re-learn how to write with a pen in my mouth instead of with my fingers. You’re definitely doing great, keep it up 👍🏾
