The red-headed writer had never met this guy until just now, although they had been friends for several years, as they had been doing posts in the ether (or at least in a phone or laptop); there had lost touch for a while doing other things, but it didn’t matter now as there were both grinning.
For a couple of hours they talked and joked, what a beautiful place, she said, several times, as Bjorn laughed just like a bear; he drove long and hard on the plateaus and in the valleys, but then he turned off to a small location, almost right by the sea: ‘there’s my spot, he said.
They sat down in the warm and cozy house – there was toast and sardines with whisky – as they looked out on the wilderness.
Then it was 10.30 pm and it’s dark and she’s tired now; meanwhile, Bjorn was doing strange things in his computer, ‘bits’ and ‘bots’ and ‘non-fungible tokens’ – of which she knew nothing and she smiled as she went to bed, wrapped up next to her huge big bag.
She woke up and it was almost light; she went out and down to the beach, how many grains of sand are there, could she hold just one in her hand? and then it happened…
Suddenly, a green smudge of light materialised as the magical spectacle began; it skipped across the darkness of space, while the shimmering liquid flames danced around the sky: it was the aurora borealis.

Bjorn, eh? Sounds like a Swede to me. . . 🤔 It would be cool to see the aurora borealis, thanks for including the link to that. At least she kind of knows him, but who knows what he’s up to on the computer?

I guess she will find out some time soon, unless she’s gone to do something else. She can be rather fickle sometime.😉

Those auroras can be beautiful. I remember seeing them in northern Maine.

I love imaginary stories, and yours is intriguing and peculiar.
PS: I remember, as a child, I read a story about a prince who, as usual, had to rescue the princess. In his adventure, he got advice from an older man that he shouldn’t trust any bald or red hair!👨🦰👨🦲👵😅💖

I’ve always wanted to see the aurora borealis.

That’s interesting. I’ve seen two of my friends on Facebook earlier today and they saw the aurora borealis – one from Anglesey, Wales, and the other in BC Canada.

Some people in New Hampshire saw them last night.

I’m with the others… you’ve created a very magical place here in your Six. For my contribution I think I’d go with ‘dreamlike’. If’n its not already taken.
(Though, if Nick hadn’t gotten there first, ‘ethereal’ comes to mind. And… from lampmagician the very provocative, if not kinda subversive…. ‘imaginary stories’.. can I get a ‘Damn!’)
speaking of Nick… Tom and I should be bringing our ‘Of Heroes…’ to the Six Sentence Café & Bistro next week. Pass the word. Will laden-down my comments with cues and description of everyone’s favorite meta-hangout

I’m glad that you liked that. It’s interesting the Northern Lights are out in several places (in the real world).
I will look forward to your meta-hangout stuff…

To see the aurora in person is worth almost any kind of a trip.

They are out at the moment. Go to Canada – you don’t need to go on a plane!

Literal or metaphorical, totally enjoyed your story, Chris. May I continue the layering of adjectives (you’re right Clark, Nick was spot on with “ethereal”) with….magical? A touch of magic was palpable. Love that the story ends with the red headed writer at the beach with the aurora borealis visible overhead.
Excellent choice in soundtrack.

So glad that you enjoy that, Denise. I can hardly believe that the aurora – in both the North and the South Lights – have been around the world, and I wrote that before those sightings. Very spooky!

We’ve been watching the Northern Lights for the past few nights here in Sussex, thanks to some rather raucous solar storms. It’s one of those “I’ll remember this moment forever” experiences.

Toast sardines and whisky – that doesn’t sound too bad! Like Misky, I also saw the Northern Lights in Sussex a few days ago, spectacular!
