she’s gold or bronze, but never silver
she’s a lion or a cheetah, not a pussy
she will never get old
her beauty will never fade
she’s always flourishing
her hair hangs down her face
creeping down over her eyebrows
forehead glistening with grace
she’s gold or bronze, and never silver
and she’s mine, always.

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows the face of a woman, partly covered by her hair. Her visible face is covered in a glittery substance, her eyes are closed and there’s an enigmatic expression on her face.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #248 photo prompt.

Beautiful!

It’s kind of scary, although the mythical woman is also courageous too (I hope).

A very intriguing poem! Who is this mysterious woman, and should we fear her–or should we fear the speaker of the poem who owns her???

I had been musing about the photo and I was thinking about legends and myths. I started to think about Midas and then ‘he’ became ‘she’, and then it moved around in my head, until this came out. So, one is a muse and the other is a… doppelgänger… maybe?

🙂 I have three white gold bands. My engagement band, my plain wedding band and an anniversary band with my hubby’s birthstone. My silver band has a saying… “I am my beloved and my beloved is mine.” 😍
