  1. I had to look up widdershins… ‘The term has been recorded since the early 16th century, mainly in Scottish sources. It comes from the Middle High German word widersinnes, which is a combination of wider meaning “against” and sin meaning “direction”. The second element may also be associated with the Scots word sin, which means “sun”. “

I used to keep a list of new words… I think I need to start that again! (Oh I found it… there wasn’t much in there but I added Widdershins! Thanks for that!

    • Well, congratulations, Jules! I’m impressed with all those things. But I have known ‘widdershins’ for ages – something about the ‘Scottish Play’ (don’t mention it) from Shakespeare.

New words are always good, mostly for Scrabble (of course). The ‘widdershins’ is a bit long though, unless you can add ‘shins’ and then ‘widder’.😉

  2. As a “language person” and Scrabble fan, I found Jules’s explanation of “widdershins” interesting 🤔 I had never heard that word before. “Unbeknownst” to me I can learn vocabulary from the six-sentence stories 😀😀
