she sits staring out
rain pitter-patters down, cold and grey
dismal, dank and damp
but inside she’s warm
reading a tatty old book
and what’s wrong with that?
the candle flickers
but there’s no ghosts here now
just peace and happiness
no misery here!

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows an open book lying on a table near a window. There is a lit candle near the book on the table in a brass bowl. The pages of the book are yellowing with age. There are water droplets on the outside of the window pane.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #252 photo prompt.

A perfect description of a perfect moment.

I have no clue how I missed this post! There was a link to it below the one you just did and that’s how I found it! I really like this poem!

What’s even odder, is that I was trying to reply to a post that really was underneath Ghosts and Dreams, where it said “More from Luna’s Online”. It was about lighting a candle and it was from something like 2021, which I’m sure I was following your blog back then. So that’s why I was saying I didn’t know how I had missed it. 🤔

Hmm, definitely earlier than 2021… I just looked back to the super picture that you did with Foster and Panda in the ‘Ice Cream – An Adventure in Italy’ that that was back into 04.05.2018!🍨

Sometimes I do read like that, although I spent most of the time with my Kindle (and I have a really large back log, including yours and Andrew’s – happy days!).

I love the odd rainy day for an excuse to sit and read – no hardship 😊, apart from we get a few too many rainy ones lol …

You’re right, a little bit of rain is fine. However, there has been too much rain and wind and worse in the Western Cape for the last couple of months. Thank goodness it’s almost spring now here!🌻🌼🌺
