The red-headed writer, aka the Raconteuse, was on a lovely train; she had her big bag, which was bulging, and she had lots of things to do.
She had been reading and writing, and then looking and looking again, as she watched the miles clock up; she had gone from NYC to NJ, Pennsylvania and then to Virginia; she stood up – it must be time for dinner, as she went into the dining car.
It was late as the red-headed writer opened her secret lining in her bag, this was what she’d taken in the Six-Sentence-Cafe-and-Bistro under the bar; the tall, thin man had given a nod as she quickly pocket it: it had been there for ages – and now she had been looking at this again – would it be time to use it?
It had been a long trip, even though it was so pleasant, but she felt a bit wrecked as she sat up; she went into the tiny bathroom to comb her hair, then made it spiky again, next she squirted some toothpaste onto her toothbrush and begin to clean her teeth, brushing with her incisors, canines and molars, as the train went clickety-click, clickety-click.
There were only a few miles left now and she packed her things back, carefully.
She was now feeling good as she got off the train; it was so busy with people rushing around, but after all, it was Miami; she could almost see Crockett and Tubbs holding up their guns.

I was in Miami last Christmas. If you wish to park a car in a public car park, you need a specific app on your phone to pay for the parking. This app you download from the Miami City Council website. After you install it you discover that it doesn’t recognise foreign phone numbers. In Miami!! I thought Miami was a tourist hotspot. I hope you enjoy your visit. ps: oh the Cuban sandwiches … don’t buy one from a pop-up on the street unless you want a bad tummy for a few days. Enjoy and bon appétit . 😂

Good grief! I have no idea how complicated would be. Maybe the red-headed woman needs to move on quickly!😉

She does. Get your good self back on the train and head here, to the Atlantic Bay Resort. Refuse ground floor; only take one on the first floor. It’s secluded; slightly spartan; unbelievably beautiful setting; an excellent Italian restaurant at the end of the road; fridge and cooker if you feel the urge to stay in. I stayed there as a hurricane whipped through the Keys, and it was the best few days ever.

Wow… gorgeous!
But, in fact, that’s exactly what the red-headed woman is going to do… down to the Keys😉

Be warned warned, it’s spartan. No restaurant. No WiFi. But sometimes that is what I need to regain my footing. But it is my version of heaven.

You’ve ignited my interest in fiction writing Chris (years ago) and this one is another good read from you.

Oh, excellent, Mich. Keep it going, since fiction writing is great! I enjoyed a couple of your recent flash fictions – fun isn’t it!

Thanks for those 3 words, Di. But gosh, the USA is so large… nice trains though (I looked on Google!)

Longest train journey I was on was the Overlander in NZ: Auckland to Wellington took 12 hours.

It set off at 7am and arrived in Wellington at 7pm. I had accommodation booked at the youth hostel for the night, then off on the ferry first thing in the morning to South Island. Fantastic 7 day mini trek on my own, and even got in a whale watching trip in Kai Kora. Wonderful.

Really wonderful… whales! 🐳
It’s the right time at the moment to see them just around the corner here.

Our lovely Raconteuse had better stay out of the line of fire. Crockett and Tubbs may be a bit shaky on the trigger at this point. That video was a hoot! It has not aged well.

I think we should just remember the Miami Vice series back in the 80s!

Yes, it was very much of its time. I enjoyed watching it.

only one bit of (meta-fictional) advice… avoid the Espirito Santo Plaza. At least the tenant of the top three floors (only two are showing in the elevators)… Cyrus St. Loreto.
how ‘bad news?’ Lou Caesare refuses to business of any sort with him.

Okay, she should keep a wide berth from him then – copy and out😉

I wonder what she pocketed from under the bar. Perhaps a bottle, but it could be anything in a story.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ah ha, not a bottle, it was many moons ago. I don’t expect anyone will remember about this, and it might not come out yet anyway.😉

Lol I had to look up “Miami Vice” to see if that’s where the reference to Crockett and Tubbs came from. I’d heard the title and knew it was a show but have never seen it, not having had TV since the late 80s. 😂 For some reason the video you included wouldn’t play for me, but it could be because I was in the WordPress Reader and not on your actual blog. I have a habit of always reading blogs from there and I’ve noticed when I do that, some of the effects don’t come through as intended. 🤔Anyway, curious to see what the Raconteuse will do next!

Gosh, I thought everyone must have watched Miami Vice and all around the world– so that shows where we can go wrong. We thought the series was great at the time, but it’s so dated now.
Anyway, let’s think about next week… maybe she has a few ideas all ready😉

I guess I’m behind the times 😂 But I do remember watching “Columbo” and “Starsky and Hutch”! 🚔🚓👮🏻♂️🕵🏻♂️

Mystery and intrigue Café Six. Love it Chris! Must be too many moons ago, because the Bartender doesn’t remember what it was under the bar either. Miami, huh. I got to second Clark’s (meta-fictional) advice – don’t let la Raconteuse go near that building – avoid Cyrus at all costs!
Perfect music for your story. Definitely sets the tone for upcoming adventures of the red-headed writer aka la Raconteuse.
P.S. I’m not embarrassed to say back in the 80’s I had a 12 month Miami Vice Wall Calendar 😆

Ha ha, excellent intrigue down the eastern coast and probably down further, and what has she got – will we find out next time?
Plus, I was most impressed about your calendar!
