the stone wall is high
there’s a forest beyond
and there’s a doorway
almost always closed
but this time it is open
shall we go in… yes?
we must be careful
is there anyone around?
but no, there’s no-one
the double-doors clang
we’re trapped…

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a stone doorway in a wall. Through this doorway, we can see trees of a forest.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #267 photo prompt.

Ooh! Intriguing beginning to a story Chris. Love it my friend. Thanks for joining in.

Brave! We must always dare to go through because our greatest enemy is fear! But don’t say the next door is locked! 😜😂
Intriguing vision!🤙💖👏

I really wish that the double-doors will open again… and very soon!

You have the power to make that happen! (I think . . . )

And yet forward is the only way to go. To take that first step is vital – and if the doors close it doesn’t matter, one can’t change the past.
Excellent, Chris.

Good point, Chris! The future will be fine, especially since there must be another door somewhere…

A gorgeous photo that turned into a poem full of mystery, Chris. But who knows what’s on the other side? Thanks for the fun.

Fascinating start, but yes, even such a lovely place could be dangerous…

Absolutely! You know, one of the first things I thought about was the high old stone wall in your books – very dangerous…

Maybe you can start a ‘pages’ for your stories. Or once completed turn them into books? I think I missed a bunch of Camel stories and maybe a couple with the Red Haired Gal too. They are fun to read. I’ve stalled on a bunch of my continuing stories. Maybe I should just ‘privately’ finish them off and then published them somehow. I’m not sure how muh room a regular post will hold.

Lots of thoughts. I used to put pages on my WP, but I haven’t done it for ages, so I must go back again and do it properly. But you, Jules, you should do a book with your stories – why not?

I read somewhere that to be your own publisher (publilshing house) you need about 1,000. But that was over ten maybe twenty years ago. I’m warry of any who tell me I need to spend thousands on various editors before I even supmit my work to a publisher. I need a secratary to to the leg work for how to publish myself. I’ve put some of my collections together in ‘binders’ and gifted them away. I just need to feel I’m not being taken advantage of…

Ah, I see what you’re saying. I think that now everything needs to be on a computer / laptop and then put it in email for someone – maybe a grad person? Then after that there is the editing and the publishing etc. I don’t know how much she charges but maybe Colleen and her Unicorn Cats would be okay? https://colleenchesebro.org/my-services-unicorn-cats-publishing-services/
