Amsterdam, bracing
at this time, I fear, my dear
the air is frigid
so let’s cuddle up
and make the best of this… yes?
It’s lovely inside here
in our narrow boat
what a joyful place it is.
Amsterdam, Amsterdam
just a wonderful canal!

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a canal where boats are parked and one boat is sailing on the water. On both sides of the canal, we see vehicles parked and rows of buildings on both sides as well.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #274 photo prompt.

Delightful, Chris❣️
Much love,
David

Such a pretty photo, Sadje! It’s definitely worth it to go there. Just hopped from the UK to Holland that time when we lived there!🌷🌷🌷

We loved Amsterdam which is where we went for our honeymoon. We went back in 1993 and it was still as appealing.

Yes, a lovely place! I had been thinking about you on your narrow boat then.

We miss it Chris, but were glad to have lived it, albeit shortly.

I was speaking to a friend in Amsterdam last week, and she wasn’t feeling too good because of the grey skies and cold. She had her solar lamp on and even that couldn’t cheer her up. Lovely poem, Chris.

I am sorry to hear about your friend. I know it must be very cold and little sun at this time in the Netherlands. Shame🤗- a long way from you though?!

A delightful poem, Chris. Wonderfully light and romantic. I visited Amsterdam over 50 years ago, and remember the canals most of all. How I’d love to go back!

I’m thinking that Amsterdam is even better now – especially the Museum District. I would like to go back too, and at the right time as well!🌷🌷🌷

Oh, that sounds wonderful. Maybe if Trump doesn’t wreck US relations with the world, I’ll get there someday.

Aww, thanks for that, Violet! Lovely idea, but also not possible to do something like that, here in South Africa either.

I was recently in Amsterdam and can confirm that bracing and frigid are accurate descriptions! Just about time for Spring, sunshine and tulip season now though.
