books, so many books
how many have I read
I wonder
just say, lots
long ones, short ones
mostly fiction
but many different genres
and also lovely poetry
I look on my shelves
I look in my kindle
so many unread books
there is no way
I will read all of them
before I am gone

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a stack of books the spine and title of the books are hidden from view. The books are arranged in order of size. The smallest is at the top.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #292 photo prompt.

Great poem.

Absolutely… very hard, and then another new book suddenly appears at the top!

An excellent, very relatable poem, Chris. If the U.S. Congress had its priorities right, it would focus on increasing the length of the day from 24 to 30 hours to create more reading time. 🙂

Oh yes, I do like the idea that more hours could be added in each week(ends).😉

I think this is also my story to Chris! I won’t be able to read all the books I’ve bought. And I still want to buy more. Thanks for joining in.

The thumbing of paper,
eyes locked on the page,
mind absorbed in a story
lost in a bygone age.
Books, …as you’ve said so well Chris, …so, so many, …waiting to be ‘thumbed’….💫

That’s so lovely… and another new book (now thumbing). Wonderful! Thanks, Penny.

Hi Chris, a great poem. Having introduced a bit of a no book buying regime, I have actually made some progress on reducing my kindle TBR. Of course, I didn’t implement the same discipline over purchasing audio books so my iphone is about to explode.

A good start, Robbie, but… oh dear! Certain things are so difficult! What can we do though?

It is a beautiful and truthful poem, dear Chris. So will I, as I glance at my bookshelves; there are still many works to be done! 😜🤗💖

Love this! Books (especially really old ones) make good decor even though you never read them, too. As would be the case at my house, lol.
