The Joshua Trees
stunning, aren’t they,
powerful too,
great – magnificent, in fact,
yet the trees are stark and strange.
the sun has just risen,
the trees are warming up nicely,
but did you know that they can walk around?
if you look carefully,
you’ll see them,
promise.

This image shows Joshua trees in a California desert, in the background the sun is rising over the hills.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #298 photo prompt.

Love the thought of those quirky trees moving around, Chris. The Ents of “The Lord of the Rings” approve. 🙂 (By the way, U2’s album “The Joshua Tree” is quite good. 🙂 )

Ah yes, those particular books – very helpful, and that album, which I have on vinyl, although not the best I would say.
Thanks, Dave – p.s. nice poem from Misty today!

Misty thanks you, Chris. 🙂
I have that U2 album on vinyl, too. From way back in 1987 — yikes!

I believe you, Chris, I saw them walk, honestly, just like Ents,(Treebeard’s my favourite, Ent wise) … and I believe in them too, … and these trees look so, so spectacular, … as are your descriptive words, …💙

I also believe that many people know that trees can move… Just beautiful. And I’m smiling.
Thanks so much, Penn 💛

They are interesting trees, Chris. Very Seussian! And no doubt they take walks when they think we aren’t looking. A fun poem for a wonderful photo.

I’ve seen them several times in the Mojave Desert here in California. They are really cool looking. I can see where someone could imagine them walking. And if you remember, Foster and Panda climbed a Joshua tree when they found themselves in Area 51🤔…🐱🐼👽

My memories of seeing Joshua trees is driving through the area during sunrise. My husband was driving – we had driven all night – and he slowed almost to a stop as we watched the trees as they were enveloped by dawn. It was beautiful.
