‘Gosh, this will be fun,’ grinned one of the boys.
‘Yes, we’re all going on an adventure.’
‘We have got everything we need,’ smiled Great Aunt Margot. ‘Now get into the back of my 2CV boys, we are going to the woods, since it’s autumn so we can get some mushrooms, and maybe some truffles.’
‘Truffles? What are those?’
Great Aunt Margot waved a hand as she continued to drive, and rather fast, ‘truffles are very good and very expensive, but we will see.’
The three of them tootled around in that little car for a bit, when suddenly Great Aunt Margot stopped, and then reversed, and stopped again. ‘Look boys, there’s eggs available. You can get out and ask,’ as she gave one of them some notes.
The two boys trotted over to the sign, and then into the little farm.
‘Is anyone here?’ shouted both of them.
For a moment it seemed that no-one was around, but just a little later, a very nice lady appeared.
‘Ah, that would be Madame Margot,’ the nice lady said. ‘Two dozen, I imagine,’ as she waved back.
Soon that was sorted, they were off again. ‘Time to find some mushrooms and do some truffle hunting,’ grinned Great Aunt Margot.
They walked around the woods, and all three of them had lovely mushrooms, although sadly they didn’t find any truffles this time.
But they did see something in the distance…
Yes, that’s right, a couple of unicorns – and yes, they are real.

Posted for The Unicorn Challenge, a magical challenge hosted by Jenne Gray and C E Ayr, where they provide a photo and we, in turn, provide up to 250 words.

I knew it, Chris, …. I absolutely knew it and now it’s there in black-and-white, … Unicorns exist, … I shall tell everybody I know, ….😉….(erm, They weren’t magic mushrooms were they?)…💫

So glad that you enjoyed that one… it was a special one. And, yes, of course, those unicorns will just appear around one of those corners! But what? Magic mushrooms? – maybe (giggling). 😉😅

Okay, Chris, given that unicorns have been mentioned in more than one of your stories, they must exist. Now they just need to declare themselves in the next census.

Fab! And what a thought, Dave! (more giggling too – unicorns, hurrah)

Of course they are, Chris, just check the coat of arms of Scotland. 😉
I’ve enjoyed the adventures of these two boys and their wonderful Great Aunt Margot.
I’m sure they’ll go on to other things.
Thanks for your support of the Challenge and I’ll keep an eye on your posts for more mischief!

Yes indeed, all those wonderful stories from you and CE – and everyone else. Plus, I do remember that particular coat of arms – but of course!
Thanks for everything, Jenne. I do hope I will see you sometimes.💛

Like my Swedish ancestors before me, my first thought was “I hope they didn’t get poisonous mushrooms by mistake!” (Remember, “Mary Jordan did not die naturally…”) But I know in “Postern of Fate” it was something else but it was still from the garden!😬🌿🌿

Ooh scary!! I am pretty sure that wonderful Great Aunt Margot would know everything about mushrooms in the woods! – and yes, ‘Postern for Fate’ – I remember that!

I saw some very unusual things after eating mushrooms in the 60’s, but never Unicorns.
Thanks for reminding me of the fun I had tootling around in my little 2CV’s – I had 3 of them over the years and miss them muchly!

don’t get enough adventures with that fine French car design. A mushroom is probably heavier than a 2CV.

I think I would be much more interested in seeing unicorns than I would be in finding truffles!

Hmm, I wonder if the unicorn might know where the truffles are . . .

After consuming those mushrooms, I’m unsure whether what they’re observing is real! 😁😉😎😂

No truffles but two dozen eggs, mushrooms, and a unicorn sighting. Not a bad day in the woods Chris.
