my photo – rather strange
the small pond glistened
some tiny birds winged away
I smiled at the crane
since I felt so blissful then
let me think some more nice thoughts
I smelled the coffee
and I continued to drink
looking at the sky
I suddenly saw my hands
I felt so very alive

Melissa introduces a creative writing challenge inspired by Maggie Queeney.
Participants observe from a window, write about their surroundings, and create a tanka poem using sensory imagery and personal reflections.
Written in response to this week’s Tanka Challenge hosted by Mom With a Blog.

The last two line of both the tankas complete the poems beautifully.

Your writing is not like any other–I realize that’s obviously true, we’re all individuals–but there’s just something different that is appealing! Lots of folks’ writing style and content might easily be called “derivative”, but NOT yours!

Gosh, that’s very, very kind… and thank you so much, Rene!!

Now remember…I’m very sincere–kindness has nothing to do with it💖 You’re entirely welcome!

If my back yard didn’t border a creek… I might have a pond 🙂

Swimming in a creek? No way, I would say!

If it were clear… maybe, but clear creeks or streams are usually very cold!
