Just a chance to buy this in ‘Builders Warehouse’ last year. Almost free too. I had no idea that there would be little flowers. They just popped up last week. – Yay, spring!

Tell me, Chris, do you water yours with rain water? The instructions I read (also at a builder’s merchant) said not to use tap water.

Aww, thanks so much, my dear, M. Enjoy your autumn for as long as possible – at least your in the south of England. But yes, I do use rain water… in fact, it’s from the big pond with lots of plants in it. Lovely!

I do have rainwater — in several barrels they we collect from the guttering. Do the blossoms have scent?

Sadly no, but opening the window there is a huge blooming jasmine… not far at all, and that scent… wow!

I’m afraid I murdered my fly trap plant as I played with it, so it never actually caught anything.

Your wondering made me wonder too, ..Chris, ….so I googled, …“Yes, you should repot your Venus flytrap to refresh its acidic, nutrient-poor soil and provide adequate space for its root system, which is best done annually in spring during its active growth or just before spring dormancy. The need to repot can also be indicated by the plant filling its pot, new traps failing to develop, or the accumulation of minerals in the soil from the water, which makes regular repotting crucial for the plant’s health” …🍀

Oh wow, excellent. Thanks so much, Penn! I had been wondering (of course), and now I will have a go. I have been using the water in the pond for the plant, by the soil/minerals since there lots of plants in that pond, and stuff on the bottom. It’s going to be fun! 😊

Do not worry, my little plant is pretty tiny, and it wouldn’t bite more than a smallish fly.

That is so cool! Is that Venus flytrap in your actual house? I’ve had one or two before in my classrooms, but never one that looked that good!
So do they flower like that or do you have two plants in one pot?

Hmm, some interesting points! Yes, this little plant is in my living room where the sun pokes out in the morning – that’s the best time for the plant (it says). However, I’m not sure if there maybe more than one tiny plant in that pot – hard to see. I think I need to read up about this, or at least in Google.🧐

The Venus Fly Trap is the insect-eating plant I am famiiar with. It looks so different, but it seems to have the same menu! 😊
