a tiny frog is hiding in my lovely arum lilies
~~~
spring leaps up
it’s a glorious time
when bees hum
nectar blooms
while arum lilies
just whisper
fearless day
as a tiny frog
burrows in
Basho style haiku
I had a little bit of doubt about that one. So glad that you said that just then… thanks so much, Violet!
I feel uncomfortable trying to mimic anyone else’s style- so I know what you mean.
Those tiny frogs are easier to hear them rather than see them. Also they are really, really loud in the night! Fun, eh?
Yes, me and my granddaughter scanned the photo in hopes of seeing one.
So tiny and in the shadow… also I’m hopeless at taking a photo on my phone (well, that’s my excuse).
Still elusive I’m afraid. We used to have loads of tiny frogs in our garden and after discovering old pond liners and a couple of baby baths, we understood why! I had to be so careful cutting the grass!
I also remember that we had to be careful with the lawnmower in the UK. Not much grass here though – lucky frogs!
So glad that you enjoyed that, Selma. And I am glad that now after what you explained, I know more about the wonderful Matsuo Bashō.
I’ve recently learned that frogs have a rounded face and toads are pointer… I can’t see your frog. But I’m sure it is there 🙂 Lovely flowers.
