view from my kitchen window
Brimming with happiness
so warm and so bright
who’s busy outside, let me have a little look
as I open the big door
and slowly step out.
I look around and up
here’s two pretty doves
they’re canoodling together on that rafter
so why don’t you nest here
good idea, my dear?
I’m sure you’ve been before
both of you last year
and that when so well, we all remember that
so get some twigs and stuff
time to be broody!

The Double Ennead is a form created by Colleen Chesebro for 99-word stories at Carrot Ranch. The Double Ennead is composed of three stanzas of 33 syllables each, for a total of 99. Each stanza has lines with the following syllable counts: 6/5/11/6/5. For an example of a Double Ennead poem, click here.

What a joyous piece- and a beautiful view!

Love your view from your kitchen! Doves have nested in my back patio, and once they tried it in my garage😮. I love that they mate for life. 🥰

Aww, thanks for that, Gary.
P.S. – still having probs with spam (I think). I had said: All I can say is: “now then” and “eh up”. It was your most recent post.

That’s a lovely view. I have a similar view and I enjoy seeing the birds when I cook. So your thankful poem resonated with me.

Such a beautiful and heartwarming piece! I love how you’ve captured the gentle joy of everyday life — the view from your kitchen window transformed into poetry, with doves becoming symbols of love, memory, and continuity. The Double Ennead form adds such rhythm and grace, making the imagery even more vivid. Your words remind us that happiness often resides in the simplest of moments, and you’ve expressed that so wonderfully. Truly inspiring and delightful 🙏❤️.

You are so right about gratitude, Aladin. I am glad that you enjoyed seeing my back garden, it is a very nice place. I’ll need to water all around this evening to keep the flowers and veg alive! 🌹🌼🍅

Oh, summer for you eh? Winter is in full swing here. I was doing some minor adjustments on one of my bird feeders and the bluejays were squaking that I was in their way!

Glad that your bird feeders are going well. Gosh though, noisy bluejays… fun eh?
