We met in the desert that time,
just me and him,
he walked, but I rode a camel.
We started our journeys,
him from the west,
me from the east.
We’d left at dawn,
just as the sun peeped up,
as we plodded across the dunes.
We arrived as the blistering sun beat down.
We did our trading,
and then we left.
Was there a moral?
No need for that…
Just good business.

This image shows desert dunes with footprints left by humans and animals in the sand. The photographer explains; Under the warm sun, the dunes carry gentle scars of passage, lines and footprints that vanish as quietly as they appear!
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #324 photo prompt.

Haha! Love this, Chris. 🧡
Reminded me of Kipling’s ” The Ballad of East and West”.
‘Oh east is east and west is west and never the twain shall meet’

Aww, thanks Punam. There are some great poems by Rudyard K., aren’t there?

My pleasure, Chris! Indeed, there are. “If” and this one were my absolute favourites in school. 😊

‘If’ is the best one – especially since I have watched it by Sir Michael Caine.

Had to be, hadn’t it – such a long way to meet in that desert!

In the desert, morals are unnecessary—only shadows matter! Let’s head to an oasis. 😉💞🥰

That’s a good idea, that oasis. Moral, maybe… I wonder what the two of them exchanged? ✨💛😊
P.S. such a shame that I can’t post back to you, Aladin. The one I saw at the weekend: “How fabulous that you both went there! I’ve got that book too, Chariots of The Gods? – a good read.”

That’s really odd!🙄🤔 Still, I’m glad you know him and that book; thank you! 🤗🙏💞

The best bit was the two pictures of you and Al with Erich von Däniken. Just fab!

And that’s the way a lot of days go: no moral — just another day. Love this one, Chris.

Well, a very long day for those two people that met for a bit and went back again. So glad that you liked that, Misky!

Very true, but I left my thoughts in my head. Maybe I should have changed my last stanza… just another thought.
