The two boys had been peering over one of the back gardens where there was a large shed. They could see something interesting, and they really wanted to see more.
“We could go around to the front and knock.”
“Or we could just bunk over the fence.”
And so they did. And luckily the shed wasn’t locked.
“Ooh look, it’s a tiny train on the track, and everything else.”
“Such detail.”
“And perfectly to scale too.”
The two boys looked at each other and grinned, and then they stared some more.
“That little train is immaculate.”
“It’s in the proper colours, like British Rail.”
Then an old man appeared. “Oy, what are you up to?” But then he grinned. “Okay kids, I’m happy to show how it works, and you can watch.”
The two boys grinned back.
“This is going to be fun!”
“And you can call me Uncle Bill.”

this worries me, Chris…😋 my eldest one has had me buy her these sets ( not the actual expensive model ones thankfully 🤭) when she was little and she so enjoyed playing with them… or maybe it was me not having sons or brothers lol…🤭

It was a short and fun story. It brought back memories from a family restaurant that used to less than half a mile from our house, called the Purple Cow. They had a small train that was going around the restaurant. It was up above the dining room close to the ceiling so the kids couldn’t reach it. The kids loved it. It was a fun place. Then one day the owner decided he did not want his restaurant to be a kid place, so he removed the train, and he lost a lot of the customers (families with kids).

Nice story Chris. I remember we viewed a property that had a huge static caravan in the back garden that housed a train set complete with station, bridges and signals. I’d always wanted a train set, and this was totally awesome. Sadly that was the best bit of the house as the garden was under four inches of water , the windows were rotten and there was a massive hole in the roof! The caravan is still there but the house has new windows and a new roof, so I wonder if the train set is still in situ.
