  1. roof-top garden! excellent use of the space (which if you recall, is access up an interior staircase that ‘continues past the roof’ in the form of a square brick structure (pretty much the size of the stairwell plus room along the sides with their old windows)

    the roof is sand/small gravel (over tar) and flat. there are a number of skylight structure at various points. sooty glass in bronze and copper framing

    and, of course, a water supply and electric power

  2. Nothing like tasting a chilled, tropical tasting libation from the Bartender after a fabulous afternoon! La Raconteuse often spent time writing on the rooftop. Now, she’ll be surrounded by lovely flora as she writes.

  3. Interesting about productive gardens… I’ve seen some city roof tops that actually housed units for bees! And some flat roofs that don’t have solar on them, have slow growing non-edible greens to help with insolation!
