up, up, up, from the deep pool
this pretty water maiden
is hungry, actually ravenous
she scans the pool edge
aha, there’s wild wood garlic
there are artichokes and chives
and even some watercress
this’ll be a great feast
so she’ll munch and munch, and burp
since there is no one around
she’s sometimes sad, but not much
she lives a good life
one day she will find a mate
and that will be quite awesome
but now everything is fine
going down, down, down
~~~
I like this Chris 💜💜💜
Very whimsical in tone. I really like the “up, up, up” start and “down, down, down” end. That’s works very effectively!
Rusalka, happy to eat her fresh greens & not having to deal with interruptions by besotted humans! 💚💚
Oh excellent! I didn’t know her name… lovely, Rusalka. She’s malicious? Surely not. 💚
I like how you’ve done this, with the ‘up up up’ and ‘down down down’. Also, I love stories about the water maidens, in whichever form (beneficially sweet or cruel and scary!) 🥰🥰🥰
