‘Well, that’s a pickle,’ muttered the red-headed writer (aka la Raconteuse) as she peer down to the stairwell from the roof, it appeared that all those light bulbs had blown, or maybe just that particular fuse had gone, which was more likely, as she continued to peer down.
Surely someone would flick that fuse up again, as la Raconteuse pulled out her smartphone, she felt either Tom or the Bartender would not pay scant attention to sort that out and soon.
Meanwhile, la Raconteuse grinned since she’d been reading using the app for Kindle on her phone, it was an excellent quirky novel, with a genre known as steampunk, she might continue to read, but it was getting rather cold by the flat roof and the moon was up now.
So she clicked her torch on the phone, then began to walk down the narrow stairs; she was hoping that she wouldn’t fall again since she had scarred one of her knees rather badly, although at least that scab had almost gone now.
She suddenly stopped by the nearest landing as her smartphone started to ping; ‘what’s this, I wonder,’ as she talked to herself out loud, ‘it’s a ping and another ping, surely this must be a scam,’ as she tried to work out what it said.
She stared around the darkness, then looked at her phone again, it said: how can it tell me to open a door, when I didn’t know there was a door here before?

Oh dear. Let’s hope it’s not one of those old fashioned rewireable fuses because those are such a pain. They’re impossible to rewire when the room is completely dark.
And who’s sending those cryptic messages?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Let’s hope that big and old place has been already rewired. I guess that tall, thin man will explain that!
But those messages are very odd.

A VERY smart smartphone!

can’t wait to see what will happen next – that question at the end!

Well, a question is almost always easier to explain than an answer, yes?

Nothing like a smartphone to keep one busy. I realized I never used the light on my phone to get around. I will have to see how that works.

It’s always useful to use a smartphone… just in case. I bet many young people have never had a proper torch! We, on the other hand, have them in the hall, the kitchen and the bedroom. And always!

hey Frank! (sorry to interrupt) but while the light in most phones are bright enough to serve as flashlights… the learning curve is littered with dead cell phone batteries (use it, put it in ya pocket, blazing away)

Luckily I don’t even know how to turn that bright light on.

I must know: Does the flashlight app on your phone call itself a torch? I know that is the word commonly used for it in your neck of the woods- just wondering if the industry names the application different thing depending on where the purchaser lives.

Okay, here we are: A flashlight (primarily North American) or torch (primarily British) is a small, portable, handheld electric light… or a smartphone. But a smartphone just has an emoji! 🔦

ok- because my phone says Flashlight- but of course it would as I am in the US.. Just me being nosey! hehehe

of course, as we Proprietors know fully well, there are way more doors in the building that houses the Six Sentence Café & Bistro than there are room.
…just sayin’
lol
nice cliff-hanger

Well quite… but what will we see in the next episode? Pretty sure she and that ttm will meet in that particular room… just sayin’ 😉

I will be sure the tall, thin man is not otherwise occupied next Wednesday… the corridor (that is never too illuminated) has any number of doors and rooms between the stairwell and the Managers Office (which is on the right just before you re-enter the Café)

The fuse is not cooperating, old buildings can be like that. Meanwhile, the old building can also conceal secrets, do be careful if you go exploring.

Sounds like a job to fit that fuse, and that is for you, dear Mimi. Maybe you’ll need a step-ladder (you’re quite short like me, aren’t you).
