It was very quiet, she thought, there was hardly anyone around, and it was almost lunch-time. Most odd, she felt. She had been pottering around as usual, in the tiny town. She loved this place, and she had been there several times, since she saved up her money for two whole weeks, and now she was on holiday.
She took her small sketch book with some pencils. That’s what she does for pleasure. Noticing a nice café, she sat down.
But where is everyone?
The waiter appeared and grinned. “You don’t know what happened a couple of hours ago?”
so she shook her head
football? she looked all around
that lot England won!

This is a scene from Kokkari, Samos, Greece. In the morning hours, you can walk alone through the empty streets. Kokkari is a small and nice village without big hotel resorts. This image shows an empty street, lined with small shops and a cafe/ restaurant.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #348 photo prompt.

With only 10 men on the pitch. 🏴

Football can do that, and it seems for many too. Fun? Maybe… if they win! Such an excellent photo for that, and just as I woke up too! That was so helpful, so thanks for that, Sadje. 💛⚽😉

Not watching as we have no TV . I didn’t know England had won until going into the chemists to collect my prescription and the England flag hadn’t been folded over which meant they were through to the next round!

No TV? Interesting. Radios then? Like Radio 4 perhaps? Anyway, we should remember the last time England won the World Cup… 1966. Could it be for 60 years at last?😉

Haven’t had a TV for almost 20 years Chris, and don’t miss it. The only time I listen to the radio is in the car, but we have the internet so a means to follow the undepressing news. When I’m in the supermarket I do look at the headlines, but it’s all the same face and whingeing again just now.
Would be nice if we won, but ……………..
Hubby read that DT is apparently trying to get the USA’s defeat reversed!

I didn’t watch the match as it was at one in the morning, and I was sleeping. It was a nice surprise to see we won.

Yes, the same for me! Although for me it’s another hour later.

Just to say Robbie, thanks so much what you have done earlier today🌻- but spam have stopped me to right back on the Sunflower Tanka anthology. Very annoying.

That is my pleasure, Chris. I don’t understand this spam problem. I had it with someone else too and it just kept happening. It really is annoying 💗

That’s a lovely write-up Chris! Indeed, the world gets driven crazy by the soccer mania once every four years. England is playing good soccer and I hope they win it this time, though France is probably the favourites. Loved your take on the pic. 👏👏👏 😊

Fingers crossed, England just might win! I am just saying… and quietly. Hush!

Am sure it will be another cracker of a match against Norway. I would tend to believe that England will have an edge, given the aggression with which they are playing this time. 😊
