I do like this park,
it’s peaceful and gladdening.
I often sit here
and look up at those great trees,
where birds are all around there.
“Trees are poems that the earth writes upon the sky.”
Shall I write today?
I have my notebook and pen,
but it seems too hard;
so I’ll just look up again
and enjoy the lovely day.

In this image, we can see a park with wooden benches installed at regular intervals. There are tall green leafy trees all around, and the ground is covered with grass. A walking track is passing in front of the benches.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #351 photo prompt.

Lovely, Chris! And I noted the delicious irony of you writing about not writing. 🙂

At least I was able to write a little poem, even though I couldn’t find another different novel about unlikable characters in your post, Dave! 😉

such a thought provoking post… they (trees) are all around us (with the exception of the ocean and the desert) but still!
in our area/at our house it is primarily pine trees. which I suspect, given the Gibran quote above, are probably considered the Etch-a-Sketch crowd (among trees)

Your place looks fab. All those interesting tall trees, and I’m sure pine trees smell delightful.

Love the Khalil Gibran quote. It reminded me of this one but I can’t remember who wrote it: “I think that I shall never see a poem as lovely as a tree.” Not Robert Louis Stevenson? 🤔

I have Googled this just now: “Trees” by Joyce Kilmer. 😊

The most beautiful thing about this poem is choosing not to write it. Just looking up and letting the trees do the talking. Perfect. 💙
