Memories
Ah yes, my first flat,
well, it was almost it.
A tiny bedsit,
what a find!
It was old even then,
a little table,
a chair, and behind
that tatty bed.
Eish! I would say
now.
Just a couple of things,
some books and records,
but my pride of place…
that little black and white TV.
Ah, memories…
I’ll just take
that useful
suitcase.

This image shows a scene inside a room. There is an old-fashioned TV sitting on a small table. There is a big white kettle on the TV. There is a yellow bag in front of the TV. There is a wooden chair on the right of the TV. On the back wall, there are windows with metal grills over them.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #354 photo prompt.

I had the same memory when I saw the image lol. Well done, Chris

I love this. My first flat was so small that the bed was a pull-down from what looked like closet doors, and yet I remember it with illogical affection. 😂

I know what you’re saying. Weird isn’t it, but it’s good to reminisce, eh? 😉

It is, and it’s also fun wondering how ever did I prepare a meal with only one burner!

Oops, a flat must be wrong. Should I sing about a sharp? But maybe not. Aha, it’s an apartment (very posh… and large).

My first apartment was on the third floor above the Ben Franklin store. Rent was $75. a month.

In hindsight, it was a very nice apartment. I lived in some real dumps after that.

how could that have been? I remember my first apt… a bed and piles of books… no tv (but a record player)
who the heck was I? lol

Love your poetry, it reminds me of a flat I saw when I first looked for a home and it was tiny.

This is too funny, but remember I’m in the US 😂 When I saw the title, my immediate thought was “flat tire” and when I saw the picture I was thinking “Where’s the car?”🚗
