Tread with trepidation…

  1. Wow that is pretty scary. I just finished listening to the book “The Worst Hard Time” on Audible, about the Oklahoma dust bowl. It was 9 hours long, and it highlights the lives of several families who lived in that area and survived 5 years of drought in the early 1930s. I had always known about the migration of people from the dust bowl to California but I had never had any idea of how bad the dust and wind storms really were. And I also hadn’t known that it was due to years of plowing up the prairie to plant wheat, and then letting the land go unplanted because there was an excess of wheat. When the wind came there was nothing to hold down the topsoil and it just blew away. Your poem made me think about how it could possibly happen again somewhere…

  2. Sounds like everywhere – the weather is trick. Time to stock up on can goods and possibly if one is inclinded to can foodstuffs. My hubby isn’t a fan of canning. But I try to keep some things in the freezer. Still one also worries about fuel and electric…

It is a trying time to be living, but better than the pandemic! Keep positive.
