We’ll sit together,
at least very soon;
I’m almost running,
you see, I am late again.
Well, I’ve lost something,
and it’s pretty important,
still not a calamity,
although it’s a kind of one.
Well, I’m here now,
and sorry about all of this,
what a performance I’ve had,
but now I’m sitting by you.
And a moment later,
she opens her big bag,
and says:
here’s your phone.

This picture is in black and white, shows a woman smartly dressed sitting on a bench with a tall bag near her. Her face is partially covered with her hair and we can she her profile. There is a wall behind her and a pillar on one side.
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #358 photo prompt.

A very wonderfully written piece, Chris! 👍☺️

Dear Chris, I like this poem very much which expresses urgency as well as a desire to live a moment calmly sitting by the side of the loved one. Very nice take on the prompt.

About a month ago, i met up with an old friend and realised that I had misplaced my phone. Usually, that’s a cause for panic, which I felt initially, but for some reason, I just dismissed the rising anxiety.
Some moments are more valuable than that device.
That piece captured both feelings I felt that day.
Lovely piece, Chris.

It’s interesting isn’t it, our phones can be very worrying if they are not right here with us. See mine, it’s next to my laptop, on the right… almost always!

Chris, I love how “here’s your phone” turns his entire one-man drama into something she’s been carrying in her handbag.

So THAT’S where the phone was! An excellent poem, Chris, and I’ll add that “poem” is a word that shares three letters with “phone.” 🙂

Oh, I do like the thing with a words and letters. In fact, I guess ‘words’ and ‘phones’ are pretty special in the blog world. (giggling)
Thanks, Dave.

That ending is absolute gold, Chris! Building up all that internal panic only to have the phone produced from her bag is such a hilarious, relatable twist. Brilliant short piece! 📱😂
