we’re little aliens,
and we’ve found a big balloon,
we are going up!
this is wonderful,
but how high can we go,
since we need a plan.
where’s the mothership?
we are looking all around,
ahh, we can see it!
we will jump across,
lucky that we can do that!
soon we’ll be back there.
happy days, we grinned,
as the mothership moves off,
a new galaxy!

In this image, we can see a huge hot-air balloon being filled with hot air. The balloon is shades of orange and red. We can see the big flames of air heaters. In the background we can see other balloons already in the air.

Val‘s Scavenger Hunt – 10th prompt
Write a Scifaiku, that is a science fiction/fantasy themed poem that follows the haiku structure of 5-7-5 syllables.

🎈This is so inventive Chris I love it 😀

Delightful, Chris! As Cyndi Lauper might have sang, “little aliens just wanna have fun.” 🙂

Something different today, eh? But I wonder if those two boys had seen those aliens. Hmm. 😉

This was such a fun and inventive read, Chris! Imagining tiny, invisible aliens using a hot-air balloon as a launchpad to leap back onto their mothership is pure creative genius! I had a great laugh reading Dave Astor’s Cyndi Lauper pun in the comments—’little aliens just wanna have fun’ fits the vibe of this poem so well! I also enjoyed your exchange with willowdot21; even without the boys on bikes, you delivered such a delightful Sci-Fi spin on the photo prompt. Fantastic Scifaiku!

I like the way you described this as an alien spacecraft Chris. Most normal passenger flights for a hot air balloon stay between 500 and 3,000 feet above the ground to keep riders close to the scenery.

Thanks for that, Jim. Now I know a bit more about hot air balloons. That was useful!
