Sinead and Moonsprite began to climb the shallow steps. All they could see around them were the tall hedges on either side and a bright patch of clear sky in the far distance, where the endless steps were leading them.
The air grew increasing chilly. Frills of frost appeared on the hedges and visible tendrils of breath spilled from Moonsprite’s nostrils. Flakes of snow began to fall. Sinead shivered and drew her cloak around her.
On they climbed through the ever-thickening snow. Sinead placed her hand on the hilt of her sword. This time Moonsprite sent no calming message to her, as she had back in the Garden. Sinead placed her other hand on Moonsprite’s neck, urging her to stop. The snow-white unicorn halted, stamping her hooves on the icy stone, while Sinead opened the saddlebag. She took out the Prophesy Book and opened it.
Every single page was blank.

I love how Sinead and Moonsprite can communicate without words. I am concerned about a whiteout AND blank pages in the prophecy book. Are they to find their own way..again, together? At least they can work this out as a team. The mystery continues Chris.

No clear way ahead times two now, Chris! The snow’s just affected visibility, I’m sure. Sure as I can be! Eek!

It’s certainly another tricky challenge, but so far they’ve come through…

I love it when stories kind of “write themselves”. 😋

Loved them climbing through the swirling snow. Reminded me of Caradrhas in Lord of the Rings. Another wonderful chapter!

Shivering just thinking about it. I’m going to have to dig them both out very soon!

Since I’ve never read your previous chapters, I was surprised one of the characters was a unicorn. I was wondering why the name was so weird, but in today’s world… *shrug*
The last line definitely makes the reader excited for the future.
I like how you’re continuing the story bite by bite.

Thanks for the feedback. It’s a long-running fantasy now and an interesting challenge to write in this way. I often take my cue for the next ‘chapter’ from my readers. I’m curious to know why you feel Moonsprite is a strange name for a unicorn; I think it fits her rather well, not that I’m a unicorn expert, of course 😉

No, it fits great. I meant that when I didn’t know Moonsprite was a unicorn I thought it was a weird name (for a human as was my assumption).

I see… that explains it all. 🙂 ‘Moonsprite’ for a human sounds like the sort of name some of the ‘rich and famous’ inflict on their offspring!
