Today I’m still waiting by the track
choices limited, just forward or back
when at dawn, new light ascends
empty platform, empty track, possibilities
Choices limited, just forward or back
step on, step up, step up to the plate
empty platform, empty track, possibilities
which route shall I take?
Step on, step up, step up to the plate
hurry now, it’s not too late
which route shall I take?
inertia stays my feet
Hurry now, it’s not too late
when at dawn, new light ascends
inertia stays my feet
today I’m still waiting by the track

The image shows the sun setting over the horizon and in the foreground you can see rail tracks.
Decisions are difficult sometimes when there are more choices. I love the way your thoughts roll around and come back to the original thought. Thanks a lot for being the first one Chris.

The pantoum worked beautifully to convey the paralysis of indecision! Wonderful, Chris.

Oh man, this is definitely me at times. Taking a path feels so definitive, like the path you do NOT choose will crumble away and never be available to you again. But to not take a path at all means a life of nothing.
Yet another triumph, Chris! xxxxxx

Excellent response to the prompt photo! The pantoum form is particularly effective in conveying the paralysis of indecision.

Thanks, Liz! I was inspired to attempt the form by Mr Cannon’s recent pantoums. It made an interesting challenge.

Lovely pantoum, Chris, I do like the rhythm changes, they fit so neatly with the picture, and your message. What a nice way to start the new year. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Cath! That was an interesting challenge for me, having never written a pantoum before.
May 2021 be a better year for all of us. Happy New Year 🙂

This definitely struck a chord with me, Chris. I have a lot of trouble “pulling the trigger”. It’s so decisive.

You created a lovely sense of stasis I thought – the moment before a decision…

This one resonates with me Chris. Sadly have experienced the plight of indecisiveness many a time.

Looking at the responses, it seems that we are not alone in this, Radhika. I suppose it’s just part of the human condition.

Love it! I know it’s about indecision, but it spoke to me on a motivation level: get on track or get left behind.
