There is no going back from here, for what I discovered up in that dusty attic on that cold winter afternoon has marked me out.
Now I am one of them.
I should have obeyed my uncle’s directive, but I’d been determined to find out the truth. The secret that was hidden from me, that was buried along with my parents, whose mysterious disappearance has never been discussed.
But now I have the truth, I must face the challenge ahead: the one that all our people must face.
On the lonely road
our kind must travel alone;
destiny calls me.

This is a great start. I hope to read more of this interesting story.

Thank you, Gary! That’s such a lovely compliment 🙂
By the way I came across this whilst looking for something else – might be helpful? https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zvryp4j – I remember using the BBC Bitesize stuff when I was studying Spanish a few years ago.

Excellent! Let’s see where the prompts will lead the story; it should be quite an adventure 🙂

Now there’s no escaping whatever was unleashed in that Pandora’s box belonging to the uncle. I love how the protagonist has no fear, and is willing to face their destiny on the road. An intriguing two Sixes!

Keeping the fear under wraps… for the moment 😉

Who’s “them?” So far we have more questions than answers. Intriguing.

I like this continued story. Delving into family history, can be full of twists and turns and sometimes what seems to be dead ends for a season.

Thanks, Pat! I fear both dead ends and plot holes… beware!

I applaud the courage of writing your way into (and through) a serial adventure… not the easiest thing to do, at least in the initial chapters, where, in Six Sentences, worlds must be brought into view and people who would live, if only a chapter at a time, clamor to be introduced.
Excellent beginning.

Thank you, Clark! The trick, I believe, is not to write oneself into a corner, although with fantasy, there’s always a way out. 🙂

No turning back, and it sounds like it leads to a lonely, and perhaps scary, life.

“Now I am one of them.” Yeah no, getting around the ominous sound of that! Love that you’ve followed up the character in a 2nd Six. It appears we’re all waiting on tenterhooks 🙂 Looking forward to the next installment!

Really good. Unfortunately once someone finids out a family secret, there will be trouble. Where you said ‘Who’s mysterious disappearance…’ it should be whose.

OH MY GOSH. I need the next chapter! I can see the pain in the hunched shoulders, the resignation. Your words draw this character out, and the story with him. LOVE THIS! xxxxxxxxx
