A few weeks ago, I was delighted to discover that my historical fantasy fiction novel ‘Following the Green Rabbit’ was the subject of an episode of author and reader, Jean Lee’s wonderful ‘Story Cuppings’ podcasts. In this series – for picky readers and busy writers – Jean reads and discusses the first chapter of her chosen book, giving listeners a feel for the author’s writing craft and a sense of the story to come. Jean has a superb reading voice and her analysis is warm and insightful. So, I invite you to settle down with a cup of your chosen beverage and listen to what she has to say about my first chapter…
Welcome back, my fellow creatives! We’ll continue tasting the wares of fellow indie authors I have gotten to know in this beautiful community through the years.

I’m thrilled to share a bit of fantastical flavor with you today! Let’s take a sip from Following the Green Rabbit by Chris Hall.
What does a reader experience in those opening pages, and what lessons can a writer take away in studying but a few paragraphs? Let’s find out!
If you do not see the audio player above, you can access the podcast here.
If you’re ever in the mood for unique serial flash fiction and poetry, do check out Chris Hall’s delightful blog!
Be on the look out for more sweet indie goodness in the autumn podcasts to come!
Read on, share on, and write on, my friends!

How wonderful Chris. 💖

Wow! This is awesome! Especially since I’m a major “audible books” fan! Too bad she doesn’t read the whole thing aloud! I was also pleased to find that the girls replied to Hodge “in unison”, something I hadn’t remembered from when I read the story the first time! 😀

I’ll let you into a little secret, Debra. Terry and Devon are about to start recording the audiobook. It should be out towards the end of November! 🐰

They’re fun, Chris. I don’t listen to podcasts often since I don’t have the time, but now and then they’re well worth the minutes. 😀

I feel the same, but I make an exception for Jean’s!

Oh I finally got to it. Jean did an amazing job reading this. Amazing writing btw, I’m glad your editor no.1 for me, lol. I wonder if she can do mine in the future, but lemme get it published first.

I don’t know if my novel will be Indie. I’m working with a publisher. But will be involved as well, so it’s more half and half.

I’m sure that won’t be a problem, so long as there’s a e-book version. Get it out there first though!

I’m working. I might need the rest of the month to spruce it up before I put it in front of you. I like it but I need to dust some edges and sweep some corners so you can enjoy your edit.

That’s actually perfect timing for me, Jude. I’m still polishing my latest project with my writing pal here, before sending it to the next reader in the pre-publishing chain. No Nano for me either this year. I have other plans!
