List Maker’s Lament

She’d always been a great Maker of Lists:
(her memory was awful)
to do lists,
shopping lists,
books to read,
movies to see,
places to go,
even lists of lists!

She’d always said:
‘if I put it on the list, it will happen’.
And usually it did.

But now, on this, her birthday,
another milestone passed (largely unmarked),
it dawned on her.

Perhaps now, not everything on her great List of Lists
could be achieved (especially the books).

Future plans might have to be
a little less ambitious.

  1. There comes a time that people realize that somethings are more important than others. I like your conclusion about letting go of a few things so that one can enjoy more of others. Thanks for joining in

  2. Cool photo prompt.
Lists. From the perspective of age. There are certain birthdays, once attained remind of us, while they are good/helpful, lists have a propensity to morph into something else. In the most simplistic of terms, lists are about the future. A future, promise to no one (as the saying goes). Here’s to today!
Thanks for the reminder, Chris 😊

  3. My list is always changing, Chris… it’s no wonder I hardly get to see anything on it! Although, using your post as an example, I’d better start looking at it a little more closely before I find it being a little too late!

  4. What about when you accomplish something you’ve been meaning to do and it’s not on any of your lists? If that happens to me, I will add it to a list just so I can cross it off!😂 Happy birthday, by the way! 🎂🥳🎁

  5. Hi Chris, my apologies for not messaging you for your birthday yesterday. Michael fell off the sports stands at school during war cry practice and he has concussion. It was rather a stressed day yesterday. I hope your day was a good one. WRT lists, it is good to have written goals and to aim for them. Like you, I have more goals than I have time for but who knows, maybe you’ll live to be 100.

  6. This reminds me of folks with memory loss… they might remember what they did years ago…but the future is foggy. Occasionally I’ll make a grocery list. But that’s about it! 🙂
