That’s right. It was 2022!
I was just about to read another book, but suddenly… a little whimper. But never mind, it’s come back.
And that was how I used to read and review – from Goodreads
Here’s what I read the most recently (a little while ago) – April to June 2022 – Q2
My reviews:
2022 Sci-Fi Anthology by E. J. Runyon (Editor)
My Evil Mother by Margaret Atwood
The Candle Game and other stories by Chris Nelson
Isak Dinesen – The Life of Karen Blixen by Judith Thurman
Eclectic Verses by Radhika Puttige
The Sorcerer’s Garden by D. Peach Wallace
Daddy’s Girl by Margie Orford
After Rain Skies: Second Edition by Michelle Ayon Navajas
As you know, I used to be a prolific reader and I will again. How soon I don’t know but it is getting closer.

I think you’re still reading more than me, Chris! 🤣 It takes me ages… even if I can’t put the book down. Savouring every moment, I suppose. 🙂

Thank you, Liz! Gosh, those few emails which I’d hoped to read so early with the help from my hubby. Sorry about that! I now know that you have read my latest book on Amazon but I haven’t said anything. I will tackle that soon (and the others also)!

How I wish to have such a calm and quiet time to sit and read a good book. It was a long ago that I could feel so easily. However, I am happy you have taken me over, my lovely Chris. 🤗💖😘😘

There’s always something to read! Thanks for the mention too!
I’ve recently finished reading Perfume by Patrick Süskind, and am now onto Richard Osman’s latest. If you haven’t read them I think you might enjoy Osman, he’s very ‘readable ‘.
So glad that your recovery is going well. 🙂

I really enjoyed the short stories on ‘The Candle Game’ and ‘The Beautiful Silence’ too.
You know I read ‘Perfume’ by Patrick Süskind about 15 years ago! I actually listened to the Radio BBC on Richard Osman with his first book and I thought it was quite good. That was about two years ago.
I am striving to read again. So far I have read the beautiful book, ‘The Boy, the mole, the fox and the horse’ by Charlie Mackesy (do buy it). Then I read a couple of Beatrix Potter’s. Now I’m reading ‘Little House in the Big Woods’ by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I still have these books and I read them about 50 years ago!

I’m pleased that you did, and thank you.
Mackesy’s book is lovely – gentle, but thought-provoking. So glad that you are getting back to being able to read – I know that you will get there. Besides, I want to read more of your wonderful stories!!
Take care, Chris

Yes that shows progress Chris. 😁Just being a reader with wide interests should help you as you must have a vast vocabulary to draw on as your skills re-emerge.

All of those books are worth it. Although the Atwood is astounding.

Hi Chris, it must be difficult not being able to read like you did before. What about audio books? The speech therapist told Terence to listen to audiobooks.

Audio books are okay, but I am determined to read properly again. I have started to read children’s books from about 8 to 11 now. It is lovely now.

I used to be very active in a community called Bookcrossing. It still exists. I got into the habit of writing down the titles, authors, (HB hardbound or PB Paperback,) PP pages and the author. I’ve been meaning to try and put authors together but haven’t. As well as how many pages I’ve read – though occasionally I trade a book and forget to record the info.
I enjoy murder ‘fun’ mysteries and young adult too. I get most of my books from Little Free Libraries or our public Library book store (where adult paperbacks are .50).
One day at a time one page, one chapter, one book at a time! (((Hugs)))

How lovely – any kind of book, especially good and cheap!
Now I’m able to read a children’s book. I am reading ‘Little House in the Big Wood’ at the moment. I’m sure you know that!

I hadn’t read it as a child. But I got a collection set for my Grand-daughter and read it before I gave it to her. Interesting perspective on growing up during that time. 😀
Enjoy!

I’ve been reading ‘fun’ murder mysteries and young fiction. I just finished one of a four part series. I missed the first one, but read 2 and three and actually got the forth on and inter-library loan. But those 350 plus minus paperback books are gone (read) in about two or three days… just because I want to know what happens next!! 🙂
Just take things one day at a time. How is your ‘stamp’ adding game going?

It’s not good if you can’t finish a murder mystery series!
So far so good with my stamp collection. Getting better!

I was able to get the book and finish it…. seems like there should be more. But there wasn’t. So we can only imagine that the charactors worked out the issues that were left… So it was kind of disappointing.
Glad about the getting better part!

I got out of reading fiction for a long while and have been looking for a way out of textbooks and back into actual fun books. I’ve started reading novellas and abridged novels by my favourite authors. It’s not quite the same, but it’s serving as an excellent gateway back to what I loved reading before. Sending you chocolate cake hugs and fairy cake healing wishes. 🥰
