will he walk a thousand miles
as he climbs around the sea
and will he walk another league as well?
his boots are big and magnificent
as he strides over mountains and lakes
and then the pinnacle arrives…
but what more can he achieve?

For the visually challenged reader, this image shows a pair of hiking boots suspended in the air. They both are facing in different directions and it seems as if they are worn on feet attached to invisible legs!
Written in response to Sadje‘s What Do You See #250 photo prompt.

Might be good to get a bit of rest since he’s walked quite some miles.

This is a strained version of life if we imagine these boots as the turning of the wheel of life. Excellent verse! That’s what brings this song to my mind: keep the boots on till the end!😉💖🤙😘

Arrival at the pinnacle, the shore, where everything has to stop, albeit briefly, to ponder and maybe decide on the next course….Well said Chris!
Loved it.👏👏👏

🎵 But I would walk five hundred miles
And I would walk five hundred more
Just to be the man who walked a thousand
Miles to fall down at your door 🎵
A wonderfully thoughtful poem, Chris. The last line hangs in the air powerfully.

The first thing I thought of was Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made For Walkin'” and I haven’t thought of that song for years! 😀

I rather liked the photo but I certainly wouldn’t climb up there. I was happy to find something in my mind though! Thanks, Darnell.

This reminded me of the folk lore of Paul Bunyon;
“Paul Bunyan, giant lumberjack, mythical hero of the lumber camps in the United States, a symbol of bigness, strength, and vitality. The tales and anecdotes that form the Paul Bunyan legend are typical of the tradition of frontier tall tales.” &
“Paul Bunyan is a giant lumberjack and folk hero in American and Canadian folklore. His tall tales revolve around his superhuman labors, and he is customarily accompanied by Babe the Blue Ox, his pet and working animal.”

Ooh, that’s all new for me. I have never known anything about this!
Gosh, thank you. Jules. Now what can I do with this, I wonder?

Folk lore is always fun to stash away. If the time is right a giant will emerge, maybe not with a blue ox, but that’s up to you 😉

Hard to imagine what more with your great poem but Paul Bunyon like Jules said is one that might fit the bill! 💓
