The ocean beckons,
what shall we do today?
I know what we can do,
let’s throw a pretty bottle in to the sea.
Oh yes, it’s always nice to send one out.
It needs a note, of course,
we’ll write it together;
a moment later, it was done.
We just need to bung the cork back,
and off it goes.

This image shows a set of steps leading to a structure on a beach with multiple directional arrows pointing in different directions. Some of the names written on these arrows are Hogwarts, London, New York, Saas Fee, Dubai, Area 51, Bangkok, etc. In the background, you can see the ocean waves and sand.

I’m really intrigued by the message in that bottle—it feels like there’s more to it than just a simple SOS! 😁😅🤗

Hmm, I wonder if anyone will find it… that will be fun if we can open it up! 🌊😉🎣

What that message might be is intriguing, Chris. 🙂 And I love that photo atop the post. Hogwarts! 😂

Maybe that bottle would turn up in that loch by Hogwarts castle! What do you think about that, Dave.😉

Could be, Chris! Not containing a horcrux, I assume. 🙂

That was a fun photo, Sadje. I’ll have to find the way to use that bottle again. Maybe in that series? Hmm.🤔😊

Something very mysterious about a message in a bottle, … if there’s enough info, it could lead to all sorts of things Chris, … or could just be the highlight of someone’s day, …love it, and the idea,… sending ‘White Rabbits’ greeting for the first of the month, …🐇💙🐇

Yes, that bottle has already had some thoughts from me, and some other people too! But, meanwhile… gosh, September already here! Lovely white bunnies🐰🐰🐰

Thanks Chris. We wonder if the two bottles we buried in the roots of our tree have been uncovered and the notes therein read.

Oh it’s a pain today I haven’t been able to respond to posts either , I have had to go through WP Reader – which is so laborious!

Some of those bottles turn up decades later. Fascinating how the tides work. Great poem, Chris.

So interesting isn’t it. I wonder if I will find something by the beach sometime soon – it is warm enough now.

First, I love that song! Second, I always wanted to do that message in a bottle thing or a note in a balloon. When having penpals was a thing it was something I always wished for.

I think “Message in a Bottle” is one of The Police’s best songs.

Such a good song (and so young they were back then).

There seems to be a lot of “were X musicians really that young?” happening these days.

I read somewhere that those message in a bottle were a big thing years ago, way before it was/ it is considered litter. I have read stories of how a student finally got confirmation of their message close to 40-50 years after it was found. That one must have been tossed in an ocean!

Chris, what a lovely poem! I have always been fascinated by a message in a bottle since a childhood visit to Florida. I wonder if anyone found the message we sent 61 years ago. 😄

You never know! Time to walk on the beach by me, that bottle might be there tomorrow. What do you think, Cheryl? 😉
