A hornets resolution
“Why have we got such a bad press? I mean, we are not deliberately cross.”
“No indeed. We live in our group, like aunties and uncles, and we are busy and productive.”
“We always do many things each day, although fun is not our normal state.”
“No, sadly not.”
“However, we can be helpful, and actually pleasant as well. Believe me.”
“So, what can we do, we are wondering?”
“A challenge?”
“Well, we can say that.”
“So let’s make a statement.”
“We’re pretty nice, and most of the time.”
“You know, we could have a party?”
“What a splendid idea!”

Thats a party with a very strict dress code. Turn up unannounced and you’re gonna leave in a bad way. 😁😉

Exactly! A very posh party, and not everyone will be invited. 😂

Delightful. But perhaps this is one party I’ll skip. 🐝

I’d agree. This is not a cup of tea for us! 😉

I’m allergic to wasp stings, and this is the time of year when I need to be careful. Apples rotting on the ground, and the wasps are drunk. Eeek!

Hope the positive press helps their reputation. 🐝

Maybe not deliberately cross but they do have a way of annoying… I think they will be disappointed in the numbers willing to party! Nicely done Chris.

Well, it was just a little bit of a punt after all. Such an interesting photo from you, Dale.

We’re waving bits of paper, so maybe it’s the manifesto…

Don’t think the party will bring them redemption

Oh well, I guess not.…

Well, except they seem to have no filter about who to attack. Bees do. Hornets–not so much.

I suppose that lovely bees have to be careful not to die unless they really have to.

fun (arm’s length) notion about bees trying to revamp their image

I’ll make up any thing I can… even rather nasty wasps, hornets etc (a giggle for that).

Hmm, well from the perspective of the pest control guy’s wife… not sure I want to go to their party. 🤣

I do NOT need my van to be the scene of a hornet party, but it often is if I park outside in the sun. Ick!

Dear Chris,
I guess it’s all about perception. Personally I’ll still keep my distance. Cute story.

I don’t mind hornets outside provided they don’t bring their party to close to me 🤣

There is a local business that has a huge empty hornets nest – Safe to leave alone (so other hornets don’t build in the same place – so I was told), but it is still a tad scary. Folks who are sensitive to hornet or bee stings need to be careful and aware not to party with hornets! 🙂

Interesting. There was a very large and very empty wasps nest in our second house. It was in the attic. We chopped it down and put it in several black bags, and off to the dustbin!

I’d do the same. Even if ‘they’ choose not to reuse. But really a smaller one would be good to donate to a school for teaching… Just would have to make 100% sure it was completely ‘dead’.
